Squaring the Circle | 2016

Squaring the circle is the impossible problem of constructing a square with the same area as a circle; it is a method of artistic, mathematical and architectural creation and has provoked insightful imaginative contemplation and the expression of innate knowledge since ancient times...

Shown is a contemporary attempt to rationalise the irrational by squaring the circle.

STRUCTURES - Procedure 03 is a scripted system of rotation and gravitational subdivision by internal/external movements. It creates an aesthetic spectrum between the square and the circle whereby the earthly square polarity generates a particle form that becomes less dense and more cursive as it transitions towards the circle.

SOLIDS - Procedure 02 is a scripted system of gravitational subdivision by internal/external movements. It creates an aesthetic spectrum between the square and the circle whereby the earthly square polarity generates a form of an arguably more inorganic aesthetic that becomes more stylistically organic as it becomes subdivided towards the circle.
